  • What Exactly Is a House Call Vet?
A house call veterinarian is one who brings his/her services to your pet in the comfort of your home, or place of business. He/she can provide most veterinary services (with a few exceptions) including vaccines, blood work and routine care at each visit.
  • Why Should I Choose a House Call Vet?
Choosing a mobile vet provides several benefits, both for you and for your four-legged friend. It can help reduce your stress levels (for your pet and for you), save you time and gas, and allow your pet to have a more comfortable veterinary experience. Mobile veterinary care offers several advantages, including: Great for pets who struggle with travel, get motion sickness, or experience stress in transportation to the veterinarian Eliminates your pet's exposure to sick animals in a waiting room Creates a calmer environment for those pets who may become stressed or fearful around other animals More personalized care through longer appointment times and not being rushed Wait for the veterinarian in the comfort of your own home Easier for owners with multiple pets A more private, peaceful, and comforting environment if your pet must be euthanized More convenient for people with busy schedules
  • Do I need to have an appointment?
Yes, patients are seen strictly by appointment only. To ensure the best care and to manage our schedule efficiently, we kindly ask that all patients arrange their visits in advance. This policy helps us to minimize wait times and provide personalized attention to each patient during their scheduled time. Please contact our office to book an appointment or for any further inquiries. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
  • What Should I Do to Prepare for My Pet’s Appointment?
If it is your pet’s first visit with us, please have all of his medical information/records available, if applicable. Please also make sure that your pet isn’t playing hide and seek when we arrive. We recommend that you have your pet prepared by having dogs in a smaller room or leashed/in a crate. For cats, please confine them to a small room without furniture they may hide under, such as a bed or large dresser.

  • Can you do everything that can be done at a traditional style veterinary clinic?
HelloVet is able to draw blood, take skin samples, and submit urine and fecal samples using IDEXX laboratory services. We typically have results back within 24-48 hours. We can take digital x-rays and perform surgical and dental procedures through our practice partner. We will refer you to a specialist for ultrasounds, CT or echocardiograms. See our services page for more details. If your pet needs 24/7 intensive care or hospitalization, we make arrangements that may include a recommendation to transfer your pet to a 24-hour facility.
  • How do I make an appointment?
We are available by appointment only on select days Monday through Friday from 8:30AM - 6:00PM and Saturday from 8:30AM - 1:00PM. However, these hours may vary based on client demand and travel conditions. To schedule an appointment please call/text us at (904) 712-3554 or click here to Contact Us. Unlike a traditional veterinary clinic, we do NOT have a full-time reception staff. Phone calls will be answered - in the order of importance - by the HelloVet staff. Your call is very important to us and we promise to get back to you as soon as we can. For routine matters, please leave a message as it likely means we are visiting with another client. Please note, it could take HelloVet 24-48 hours to respond.
  • What Areas Do You Service?
HelloVet proudly offers house call veterinary services to pets in various counties of Florida. You can find our service area below. If you do not see your area listed, please contact us, and we’ll be happy to let you know if/how we can accommodate you and your companion. Currently we are servicing portions of St. Johns County, Duval County and Clay County.
  • What are your fees?
We offer competitive pricing, comparable with other area vet practices. The only difference between our charges and those of a regular veterinary clinic is our fee to come to your location. This is called a “House Call” fee. We are happy to provide estimates upon request. Fees are primarily based on the distance from our office location in St John County. There will be an additional mileage fee assessed beyond this radius which covers increased drive time and fuel costs. There is only one house call charge per visit, regardless of the number of pets we treat. * Please note that prices are subject to change without notice. We strive to keep our pricing competitive and transparent, but unforeseen factors may necessitate adjustments. For the most current pricing information, or if you would like a detailed estimate for your specific needs, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Our team is always ready to assist you and provide accurate estimates upon request. Example Pricing Located in our FAQ section
  • What Is Your Payment Policy?
Payment is due when services are rendered (on the same day). We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. We are also able to accept ApplePay, Venmo and Zelle.
  • Do you take insurance?
At this time we do not take pet insurance, but we do provide receipts for service(s) that can be submitted for reimbursement.
  • Are Your Services Limited to Homes Only?
We will come to your home or business location, within reason.
  • Why should my pet be examined every year?
Yearly exams are important to detect problems early. In most cases, the earlier a condition is caught, the easier it is to treat. It is also required by Florida law to have a client-patient relationship on a yearly basis. In some cases, more frequent exams are recommended depending on the illness or age of your pet.
  • How Do I Collect My Pet’s Medications?
We have an online pharmacy and can ship prescriptions directly to you. We will carry some medications on a limited basis that we may be able to dispense at the time of the appointment.
  • Where Will You Park When You Come to My House?
We will park right in your driveway or parking lot in front of your home. We can discuss parking arrangements in more detail when you call us.
  • Do you offer grooming services?
We do not nor do we plan to offer grooming services. We have some recommendations for some great groomers in the area. Feel free to ask.
  • Is the Covetrus site safe to order medication from?
Yes. The site is fully secure (https).
  • Aggressive Or Unpredictable Dogs
An owner must be able to use a leash and place a muzzle on their dog if requested by the veterinarian at the appointment. If you are unable to do this with your dog, please inform the receptionist when making the appointment. Oral sedatives can be dispensed prior to the appointment to help calm your dog or cat if necessary. Please let us know when scheduling your appointment. Injectable sedation may be required to handle your pet and can be discussed during the appointment. We want it to be as stress - free as possible for you and your pet!
